Sarakka is a personal project born from a common frustration: online travel booking experiences often feel impersonal, rigid, and complex. The goal was to design an e-commerce platform that redefines travel booking by making the experience more fluid, immersive, and inspiring.
The essence of Sarakka
Sarakka is a travel platform dedicated to extreme and Nordic experiences, designed for those seeking remote, untouched landscapes. Inspired by Samí mythology, its name symbolizes guidance and exploration, reflecting a spirit of adventure.
Unlike traditional travel platforms, Sarakka curates immersive journeys to the Arctic, fjords, and tundras, offering a seamless booking experience tailored for off-the-grid expeditions. The challenge was to create a fluid and intuitive platform that blends storytelling with practicality, making extreme travel both accessible and inspiring.
Crafting a Seamless Nordic Travel Experience
Sarakka is more than a booking platform—it’s a gateway to authentic Nordic adventures. The challenge was to create an intuitive experience that makes trip planning effortless while preserving the charm of remote destinations.
The UX focuses on clarity and personalization, allowing travelers to explore curated experiences based on season, location, and interests. The UI embraces a minimalist yet warm aesthetic, inspired by Nordic landscapes, blending deep greens and soft neutrals for a sense of calm and adventure.
From interactive maps to seamless booking, every design choice was made to reduce friction and enhance engagement, ensuring that each journey—whether chasing the northern lights or staying in a Sámi lodge—feels effortlessly accessible.
